Dr. Angela Gallop - Axiom International Ltd
Dr. Angela Gallop is the Chief Executive and Forensic Science Director of Axiom International Ltd and from 2010 to 2015 was a visiting professor at Northumbria University Centre for Forensic Science. Angela is one of the UK’s most eminent forensic scientists, and is recognised for her skill in leading complex investigations and for setting up and running full-scale forensic laboratories. She has been a practising forensic scientist since 1974. Angela worked for the Forensic Science Service (FSS) before establishing an independent forensic science consultancy firm ‘Forensic Access’, primarily to advise lawyers representing people accused of crime involving forensic evidence for a better balance at court.
In 1997, Angela co-founded Forensic Alliance—the first non-Government laboratory to provide a full forensic service to police investigations. In 2005, she facilitated the acquisition of Forensic Alliance by LGC and then went on to run LGC Forensics—now the largest supplier of forensic science services in the UK and the largest independent supplier in Europe. In addition to setting up and running forensic science laboratories, Dr. Gallop has specialised in the investigation of complex cases, establishing what became the cold case team in LGC Forensics and personally overseeing the majority of the more complex cases herself including most recently the Coastal Path, and Stephen Lawrence murders. Angela was awarded a CBE in the 2015 Queen’s Birthday Honours.
